Lynda.com, Inc., Raises $186 Million To Go On An Acquisition Spree

Lynda.com raised $186 million in a round led by TPG Capital, increasing its valuation to approximately $ 1 billion. This is said to help Lynda.com in acquiring educational technologies companies. TPG partner David Trujillo is joining the board as a strategic move.

lynda.com is an online learning company that helps anyone learn software, business, and design skills to achieve personal and professional goals. Lynda.com has a library of 5,700 classes with 255,000 video tutorials in English, French, German and Spanish.

According to leading news channel, Bloomberg, Existing investors including Spectrum Equity, Accel Partners and Meritech Capital Partners also participated in the funding, said the company, which has raised more than $289 million since its inception.

Lynda.com is poised to take giant strides into the educational technology and professional development market, as predicted by industry analysts. US alone spends over $55 billion for adult and continuing education. Late 2014, Lynda.com has been seen taking ambitious strides to explore the educational and corporate training markets in India.

This funding remains to be the point of attraction for many analysts and competitors operating in this segment.
